Journalists, broadcast executives, and radio and television presenters from across the Middle East discussed ways in which they could improve the quality of reporting in the region and create opportunities for closer professional co-operation. Specific proposals to emerge from the meeting included the establishment of an Internet forum to allow media professionals to exchange information and the introduction of a journalist exchange programme for the Middle East. Participants also discussed the need for the media to meet the concerns of young people and to provide them with programming that addresses issues of peaceful co-existence.
